Summary

To help new Carltechs and current techs when they are trying to resolve a ticket they when they are stuck, it would be helpful knowing what workmates you could consult who are familiar with this issue or with the processing of writing a ticket for this issue. For instance, if this is the first time a tech is troubleshooting with VPN, the wiki might not be enough to figure things out. Some other tech who have worked with VPN issues could be more familiar with specific errors. So also in the wiki, when you look up VPN, this wiki directory should also show up as a result for the search and the tech could use it to find a tech they can reach out to, via notes or email. Your mission: create a wiki page collaborative where people can create profiles to themselves and insert topics they have worked with and are familiar enough to provide you some guidance (like a resumé, but not with the same purpose hehe).

Part 1: Compile Information

Talk to the Carltechs to get a sense for what sort of issues different staff members handle and ask them to create a section with your profile if they feel confident dealing with specific issues.

 

Part 2: Create Labels

 

After having everyone updating their profile, link tags to this article so it shows up by search. Since this is an editable article and we would like people to be constantly adding their skills as they feel familiar with a topic, there should be instructions for them to add tags as they add these skills.

 

Part 3: Testing

 

Make sure that this wiki page is searchable by keywords. So if you look up “PDF” you will see this article as one of the results.

 

Part 4: Review

 

Go through people’s perfis and verify information.

 

Timeline Considerations

 

  • 8th Friday| Project work should be complete. Make sure a review meeting is scheduled

  • 10th Wednesday|Final deadline for reviewing with SAS tech or Kendra


If the project is still incomplete at the end of term, update this project’s status to “Unfinished” in the Projects Sheet, and delete your name from the “Person” field. Someone else (or you again) can claim it and work on it next term.
