Important! Please Read:

This is an update to this page. If you have a Windows 7 Computer, you should navigate to that page instead.

Carleton supports printing on three main paper sizes, Letter, Legal, and 11x17.  Check to see if the printer you are printing to has the paper size you need before you print! If the printer needs paper, DO NOT attempt to reload it yourself. Please ask a CarlTech or Reference Desk staff member.

In general, printing can be achieved by choosing the paper size from a “Print Settings” menu, but there are many application specific ways to navigate to this menu. Note that some desktop applications do not allow for printing on multiple sizes of paper.

On a Windows Computer (Windows 8 and up)

In a web application (Firefox, Chrome, Safari, Internet Explorer, etc.)

  1. Click on the printer icon, or press Command+P

  2. If you are not using Chrome, skip this step! Chrome users: Navigate to the bottom of the print dialog window and click Print using system dialog or press Control+Shift+P.

  3. You should now see a window like the one above on your screen. If you don’t, try Steps 1 and/or 2 again.

Special Paper Sizes

If you must print on paper that is not Letter, Legal, or 11x17, you can insert your paper into the printer’s multipurpose tray, and then follow the printing instructions listed above for your computer and application type. Remember that all documents can be printed in any size.
