Introduction

Visitors to the Carleton campus can access our guest wireless network. To do so, you must first register your wireless device on the network following these simple steps below. Campus hosts can download printable instructions.

Process

  1. Select the "Carleton Guest" wireless network on your computer or mobile device.
  2. Open your web browser.
  3. Direct your browser to: https://connect.carleton.edu
    A web page should open displaying the following options:


  4. Click on the link "Please sign up for guest access" 
  5. Complete all of the requested details on the Guest Registration form.

    Notes:
    - Enter your full telephone number including area code, but do not prefix it with an extra 9 or 1.
    Your cell phone provider is required to properly route the message to your phone when registering by SMS.

  6. Choose to register by SMS or email by following one of the instructions below:

     

    Registering by Email:

    1. Click on the Register by Email button.
    2. You will now be granted 2 hours of access to the network in order to access your email.
      The following screen will appear on your web browser as your temporary registration is verified:

      If prompted, you may need to restart your wireless to pick up the new connection.
    3. Access your email account.
    4. Click on the verification link included in your email.
    5. You will be taken to a page that will confirm your registration.

    Registering by SMS / Text Message:

    1. Click on the Register by SMS button.
    2. You should receive a text within two minutes. If you don't, re-enter your phone number or register by email instead.
    3. The following screen should appear on your web browser:
    4. Enter the 5-digit PIN you receive in the text.
    5. Click on the Confirm button.
    6. The following screen will appear on your web browser as your temporary registration is verified:

      If prompted, you may need to restart your wireless to pick up the new connection.
